Kwadwo Asamoah to undergo surgery after details of injury revealed

Juventus midfielder Kwadwo Asamoah will be out for 45 days after suffering an knee injury in the Italian Serie A on Saturday.

Asamoah was hauled off in the 1-0 win for Juventus for suffering a sprained knee in the game against Palermo.

The Black Stars midfielder is set to be out of football action for up to 45 days as he did not take a part in Juventus’ training on Sunday due to his injury.

The Italian Serie A champions gave an update on Kwadwo Asamoah’s injury writing on their official website:

“The extent of the injuries sustained by Daniele Rugani and Kwadwo Asamoah were clarified following medical examinations today. The tests revealed that Asamoah has ruptured the meniscus cartilage, while Rugani has strained the lateral collateral ligament, both in the right knee.

“The former is expected to undergo surgery with both players anticipated to return within around 45 days.”

The injury could also be a blow to Ghana as the Black Stars are set to begin the qualifiers for the 2018 FIFA World Cup tournament in Russia. Asamoah will also hope not to aggravate the injury as he works his way back to fitness in order to make it to the 2017 African Cup of Nations next year January.
