CAF snubs Ghanaian referees

No Ghanaian referee was named in the list of 21 center and 21 assistants referees for the 2017 AFCON in Gabon, according reports in the media

It has been reported that CAF has overlooked Ghanaian referees for the 2017 Africa Cup of Nations to be staged in Gabon, after none of them was named in its list of 17 center and 21 assistant referees named by CAF to officiate in the continental showpiece.

Ghanaian referees over the year have not had enough opportunity to officiate in continental games and the few who were handed games ended up disappointing. For instance, just last month referee Joseph Lamptey who was the center referee when South Africa defeated Senegal 2-1 in the 2018 FIFA World Cup qualifying game awarded a controversial penalty in favour of the Bafana Bafana and was subsequently handed a three-month suspension for awarding a wrong penalty by CAF
