9 Romantic things to do with your man

It’s natural for couples to have a few separate interests. Perhaps you’re a shopaholic while he wouldn’t be seen dead in the high street. Perhaps he’s a football nut while you’d rather spend a week in Guantanamo Bay than go to a game.

We want our man to be a Prince who can show us that he’s not tough, macho and unemotional all the time. We want him to prove his love to us, to take charge and wine and dine us.

But let’s reverse the roles for a second. After all, it’s 2016 now, so why shouldn’t us women take command and do romantic things with our boyfriend? It might surprise you to read it (and it surprises me to write it), but men do love to be surprised and romanced.

Deep down, underneath all their tough, Xbox-playing, beer drinking, football watching exterior, men are emotional beings with soft, tender centres. And they want you to show them some love by understanding what they like from time to time. So let’s take a look at 9 romantic things to do with your boyfriend.

Be Affectionate

Being affectionate is super easy to do, and as such it might not be something that automatically springs to your mind. But how many times do you really instigate affection with your boyfriend?

Just touching him while you’re watching a film, holding his hand when you’re out walking, or cuddling up to him as you lie in bed is super romantic and is a really nice way of expressing your love. A little tender love and affection never hurt anyone, and nor does it cost you anything to do it.

Just be careful a cuddle doesn’t turn into anything too frisky if you try it in public …

If you’ve both been overworked recently to the point where you’re eating lots of pre-packaged ready meals and takeaways, why not surprise him tonight by cooking him his favourite dinner? He’ll love you forever.

Girls love it when our men buy us surprise presents. It brightens up our day when they return home from work with a big bunch of flowers, a bottle of wine, or a box of dark chocolates.

But guess what? He likes surprises too! Whether you buy him his favourite chocolate bar, a DVD or even a video game, a surprise present is enough to put him in a great mood. It shows that you appreciate him, that you love him, and that you want to do nice things for him.

The gift doesn’t have to be expensive; as always, it’s the thought that counts.

Okay, so you kiss him all the time. You kiss him in the morning, during the day, and in the evening.

But for a really romantic puckering-up session, why not kiss him in the rain, the sunshine, the snow, or in the cinema? How about going for a long walk into the woods and kissing him against a tree? You could even be really sneaky and kiss him in an art gallery or surprise him during his dinner break at work. Think outside the box for some great romance.

If you guys don’t live together yet, you might be starved of romantic ideas. After all, you can’t exactly be romantic with him under the sheets at night, and neither can you prepare him a candle-lit dinner after he returns home from work. So why not write him a love letter?

The love letter is undervalued in 2016, but we’d love to see it return. Writing your thoughts and feeling to him with a pen and paper is incredibly romantic and will be something he treasures for years to come. It sure beats firing off an email!

When guys go out for dinner with their girlfriend, they always assume it is they who will be footing the bill. So why not give him a treat by paying for the meal tonight?

You could either be really sneaky and settle the bill with the waiter while pretending to go to the bathroom, or you could put your man’s mind at rest at the start of the meal by saying that you’re paying.

Rain can be so annoying, but it all depends on your perception.

Why not spice things up a little bit by dancing in the rain together with your boyfriend? You can kiss and hug too. This is one if the most romantic and cute things to do with your boyfriend.

Now is the time to start taking an interest in some of his passions. If he’s a sports fan, why not suggest going to a game with him? Ask him about his favourite players and who he thinks will win the Championship this year (whatever that means). Participate in his hobbies – he’ll love it!

Unless, of course, it’s the Superbowl. In which case, it’s strictly guys only and your romantic gesture would be to cook him and his friends a feast.

When we get into a relationship, we find it hard to let our boyfriends go out for the night without us. We want them next to us; we don’t want them dancing in a dark nightclub where anything could happen.

Doing romantic things for your boyfriend is all about understanding what he wants as opposed to what you want. So why not do a completely selfless act by letting him have a boys-only night on the town?
