NPP director of election criticises EC for poor publicity on exhibition exercise

Korsah said told Citi FM Monday that: "obviously the publicity is low, you may be aware that this type of exhibition as it is being done in the 29,000 polling stations as against the others which should have been the electoral area level this one has a peculiar nature. People are not too used to this and you are expecting virtually every voter, i.e those who were registered in 2012, 2014 or 2016...the whole country, you are talking about some 16 million registered voters. One would have thought that there would be some heightened media publicity to tell people how to go about this process."

The three-week long exercise is to offer registrants the opportunity to verify if their names were properly capture in the provisional register, object to minors and foreigners on the register as well as correct data that were improperly captured.

Some exhibition centers visited by Pulse.com.gh in the Ayawaso West Wougon constituency recorded low turn-out of eligible voters to validate their records.

“As at now, the exercise has been very slow, there hasn’t been any difficulties anyway, Michael Addo, an exhibition officer said.

Three people had been verified, and one person had his named which was wrongly spelt corrected, Addo added.
