Organisers of the 'Let My Vote Count Alliance' have said they are surprised about the police decision to secure another injunction to prevent them from picketing at the Electoral Commission (EC) on September 29.

"From the very beginning of this whole demonstration and the series of encounters we have had with the police, everything points out to the direction that there is a grand pre-meditated attempt on the part of the police to frustrate the Ghanaian voter".

According to the group, the aim of the police is just to frustrate Ghanaian voters.
An Accra Circuit Court ruling has quashed an earlier ruling by an Accra Magistrate Court which ruled that it cannot grant the permission of the police because the motion they filed had expired.

Per the ruling, the demonstrators will not be allowed to picket at the EC tomorrow.
The court also restricted the group from embarking on any demonstration until October.
But speaking on Accra-based Citi FM, Convener of Let My Vote Count Alliance, David Asante said: "from the very beginning of this whole demonstration and the series of encounters we have had with the police, everything points out to the direction that there is a grand pre-meditated attempt on the part of the police to frustrate the Ghanaian voter", he said.
"We have learnt a few lessons. But we are saddened by the fact that the police after the judge issued a stern warning about the inappropriateness of the police going on the blind side of the demonstrators to throw an exparte injunction, just a few hours after the ruling the police still finds it expedient enough to go to a different judge, just to get another exparte injunction. What is the police being manipulated to achieve?", he added.
David Asante, who said his group will abide by the court's ruling, however indicated that they will meet with their lawyers to discuss the way forward.

The group scheduled their next demonstration aimed at pushing the EC to create a new voters' register ahead of the 2016 elections for tomorrow, Tuesday, September 29.The Police have, however, insisted that the objective of the group in insisting on picketing at the EC office is to cause damage to the equipment of the electoral body.
