Ashanti region NPP condemns Delta Force attack

In a broadcast interview, the Regional Secretary, Sam Pyne, said the national security should deal with the perpetrators of the crime.

“It is not a party matter because it is not a party appointment. The person was appointed by the president to work for the nation Ghana," he said."He wasn’t appointed to be an NPP officer. The group that went there was not authorised by the party to do that. The national security that is supposed to deal with that matter should deal with it."I condemn that action by the group but national security should take it up.” “I’m going to have a discussion with leaders of the group and also the Regional Security Council are going to meet on that too,” he added.

The attack came after Mr George Adjei was appointed as the Ashanti Regional Coordinating Council (RCC) security coordinator.

Shortly after he was appointed on Friday, the Delta Force stormed his office to demand his removal because he is not from the region.

They attacked some facilities at the RCC and stormed Mr Adjei’s office to harm him but the police intervened.

The Police on Saturday evening announced the arrest of a leading member of the group known as Kwadwo Bamba. He is alleged to be the organiser of the group.

A statement by the police said he is assisting with investigation.
