Police in the Northern Region have arrested one of the ring leaders who organised some youth to go on rampage in Tamale Wednesday.

The suspect, Sulemana Kindiya, is being processed for court, as the Police continue to hunt for four others who were involved in the chaos.

Some irate youth believed to be supporters of defeated National Democratic Congress (NDC) parliamentary candidate in Tamale Central took to the streets of Tamale Wednesday, to vandalise billboards belonging to the Member of Parliament (MP) for Tamale Central, Alhaji Inusah Fuseini.

This follows claims by the youth that the dismissal of defeated parliamentary aspirant, Alhaji Ibrahim Seidu, an engineer from the Ministry of Roads and Highways was unjustified.

According to them, Alhaji Inusah Fuseini was behind the dismissal of his contender in the just ended primaries, Alhaji Ibrahim Seidu.

The Tamale Police Commander, DCOP Ken Yeboah, had earlier told Accra-based Joy FM, that Alhaji Seidu is still at post and has not been dismissed.

He said security have mounted a search for the ring leader who organised the protest.

“We are looking for some of them because we have gotten news of their ring leader. We are still patrolling during the day and night, not in one particular location but the whole of the city,” DCOP Ken Yeboah stated.

Police have been dispatched to the area to maintain law and order.
