I have been sidelined from Nana Addo's campaign - Kwabena Agyepong

"When you want to accompany him anywhere they leave you behind"

New Patriotic Party general secretary Kwabena Agyei Agyapong has stated that he has been sidelined from the activities of the NPP flag bearer, Nana Akufo Addo.

He said there seem to be a ploy to exclude him from everything Nana Addo does lin the build up to the 2016 elections.

Kwabena Agyepong is being accused by some members of the party for travelling to the United States of America to "cool off" while the flag bearer is on a "rise and build" tour, but the NPP scribe speaking on OK Fm said "never was a date determined and communicated to me, and I informed him (Nana Akufo Addo) of my trip."

He said it is unfair for people to insinuate that he deliberately left the country.

"During the circle disaster I called the presidential candidate that we should go and show solidarity he agreed and said it was good. Could you believe when I left home to meet him at his residence, they left me?  They didn't event wait for me. I have to say it for the Ghanaian people to know what I am going through."

He said his aim from the start is to serve Nana Addo and the party and not to sabotage his chances and cited many instances where he has been excluded from the flag bearer's activities.

"When you want to accompany him anywhere they leave you behind. The last press conference we had at Alisa hotel bout this electoral register, the chairman of the party was not informed until the morning of the press conference. I had to prevail on him to come and sit in the press conference. When he sat in it he was seeing the presentation for the first time. I the general secretary saw the presentations 10 minutes before Dr. Bawumia and I went to the electoral commission. What sin have we committed to be treated this way?"

The NPP general secretary and Chairman Paul Afoko have been accused strongly by party members who say they do not want the NPP to win power in 2016. In May this year after the death of the NPP Upper East regional chairman, there were calls for their removal from office as some party members blamed them for the death of the regional chairman.

Kwabena Agyepong said he has done everything to ensure that Nana Addo becomes the president of Ghana but there are several attempts to tarnish his image.
