Clergy's silence on NPP-SA nationals saga deafening - Felix

The Deputy Minister claimed that the Clergy have not declared a stance or made suggestions on the matter because “their preferred political party is under fire for doing wrong.”

According to him, it is worrying that such a national security issue has not been a matter of concern to the Clergy.

The Bureau of National Investigations (BNI) arrested three ex-Police officers from South Africa who had been invited into the country to train the private security of the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP).

The leadership of the NPP stated that security training was to enable the NPP private security personnel to effectively protect the party’s flagbearer, Nana Akufo-Addo, his running mate, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, as well as their spouses.

But the three were deported back to South Africa this week.

In a panel discussion on Radio Gold, Mr. Kwakye-Ofosu asked; “did you notice that in all of this the usual members of the Clergy who are loud on any and every matter; sometimes as insignificant as threats from Let My Vote Count Alliance have kept quiet on this matter?”

He claimed that the Clergy have not declared a stance or made suggestions on the matter because “their preferred political party is under fire for doing wrong.”

This, according to the Deputy Minister is indicative that there is a “conspiracy afoot.”

He however added that if anyone is aware of any intervention from the Clergy, he should be alerted in order to correct his position.
