Popular actress Yvonne Nelson posted on her Twitter account that she was experiencing dumsor.

Many areas around the country have been hit with power cuts (popularly known as dumsor) on election day. Some media personalities have posted on social media about the electricity situation in their neighbourhoods with many others expressing shock that on such an important day, the lights would go off.

Popular actress Yvonne Nelson posted on her Twitter account that she was experiencing dumsor.

In 2015, Ms Nelson led a protest of thousands of Ghanaians through major streets of Accra to announce their disquiet at the power crisis.

Ghana’s power crisis worsened for three and half years under John Mahama’s administration leading to the loss of many jobs and is a major campaign issue for many voters. While the government contends that the crisis has been solved, many ordinary Ghanaians continue to complain of the problem.
