The National Democratic Congress [NDC] has said it will on Thursday exhibit itsregister which will be the main document for the conduct of the November 7 primaries.

President John Dramani Mahama will be endorsed as the party’s flag-bearer during the event, the party has said.According to the Director of Elections of the party, Samuel Ofosu-Ampofo, the party has registered nearly two million people across the country to elect parliamentary candidates to represent the party in the 2016 elections.

Speaking at the end of orientation for party executives and parliamentary aspirants  of the party in the Central Region, Mr. Ofosu-Ampofo said the party's voters’ register strength now stands at a provisional figure of 1, 975, 792 following the end of the nationwide biometric exercise.

“I’m saying this is provisional because by the end of the exhibition, we anticipate that we will undertake some corrections, there will be some inclusions, there will be some exclusions based on what information is available to the party at every constituency," he said.

The exhibition, which will run concurrently at all the 275 constituencies, will among others seek to clean what the party has described as “undesirable elements” from the register.According to Mr. Ampofo, the final document would be made available to both the presidential aspirants and the parliamentary aspirants across the country.

“We are conducting the exercise in open and transparent manner. Once we finish with the exhibition, we will then come out with a composite register which will reflect the electoral areas because our voting centres will be designated at various electoral areas. We are doing all this in the spirit of transparency, openness and fairness so that by the end of this exercise everyone will have confidence in the process that we have embarked upon,” he added.Mr. Ofosu-Ampofo has therefore urged all aspirants to take active part in the exhibition on Thursday as the party is ready to make the registers available to all aspirants upon request.
