5,000 security officers to be deployed at Nana Addo's swearing-in ceremony

About 5,000 security officers are expected at the swearing-in ceremony of the President-elect Nana Akufo-Addo come January 7, 2017.

The security officers who will be drawn from the various security agencies including the Army, Police, and the National Security Apparatus will ensure a secured environment for the over 6,000 guests who are expected at the event.

Spokesperson for the transition Team, Kojo Oppong-Nkrumah addressing the media said there will security very tight at the venue and urged the public to comply with directives that will be given.

"Our friends with National Security and the various security agencies are providing us with about 5,000 men and women drawn from the security agencies; military, police, national security etc. Access to the various circles will be strictly on accreditation basis and we ask people who are coming in to expect some sort of screening in the light of the times we live in and to kindly cooperate with the security agencies during this screening exercises."

No offensive weapons are allowed anywhere near the perimeters that we are talking about. Security will be on very high alert and so we’re asked to inform persons who have nefarious intentions to desist from it because security will deal with you very firmly," he added.

Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia will also take the oath of office as the Vice President of Ghana.
