The New Patriotic Party (NPP’s) National Executive Committee (NEC) has unanimously voted to suspend its National Chairman Paul Afoko indefinitely.

Confirming the news toPulse.com.gh after the NEC meeting, Communications director of the NPP  Nana Akomea said “the national executive committee unanimously endorsed the recommendation or the report of the national disciplinary committee by that endorsement Mr. Paul Afoko is suspended from the position of the national chairman of the NPP. It is indefinite .”

Before this meeting was convened Paul Afoko raised concerns over the illegality of the meeting called by Freddy Blay, but Nana Akomea said they fulfilled all the constitutional requires needed to convene a meeting.

The first vice chairman of the party Freddy Blay now becomes the acting chairman of the party.

The party’s decision follows a petition by the Council of Elders to the Disciplinary Committee of the party asking Afoko to step aside for various misconducts.

Mr. Afoko however has two weeks to petition the national council of elders for the decision to be overturned.

"If he finds anything wrong with the procedure he can just put it into writing and appeal to the national council." Nana Akomea said.
