'Put public interest first' - Akufo-Addo tells ministers

Speaking during the swearing-in ceremony of the third batch of his ministers on Friday, the president also charged them not to lord themselves over Ghanaians.

President Nana Akufo-Addo has advised his newly sworn-in ministers to put the public interest first in their day-to-day activities as public servants.

He urged them to see their "ministerial appointment as an avenue for service to our people and nation, service which should be discharged with humility.

"It is not meant to allow you to lord it over the citizenry," he added.

"The second is the requirement of integrity in the exercise of your function. You are here to advance the public interest, not your personal fortune.

"For you have been called to public service.

"You must, therefore, comply quickly with the obligation to file your assets declaration," he charged them.
