Parliament approves Ursula, others as ministers

The six were vetted by the Appointments Committee of parliament last week and are expected to be sworn into office by President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo.

Parliament has approved the nomination of six persons to be sworn in as ministers by President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo.

They are Ursula Owusu-Ekuful – Minister-designate for Communications, Joe Ghartey – Minister-designate for Railway Development, Professor Kwabena Frimpong-Boateng, Minister-designate for Environment, Science, Technology and Innovation, Joseph Kofi Addah – Minister-designate for Sanitation and Water Resources, Kwesi Amoako-Atta – Minister-designate for Roads and Highways, Kwaku Ofori-Asiamah, Minister-Designate of Transport.

Meanwhile, parliament is yet to approve the nomination of Otoko Afisa Djaba, Minister-designate for Gender, Children and Social Protection.

This is because the Committee failed to reach a consensus on her approval.

Debating the appointment committee’s report last Friday, the Minority MPs said all the nominees apart from Madam Otiko Djaba should be approved because she was disrespectful and failed to do her national service as required by law.
