Come back to NDC – MPs beg Rawlings

The NDC in the last election had infuriated the party’s supporters, many of whom are eager to vent their frustration about the defeat.

The minority leader, Haruna Iddrisu who led a delegation of NDC Members of Parliament to visit the former president on Thursday, April 6 at his residence in Accra called for unity within the party towards the future.

He said the party needs proper reorganisation to contest with the ruling NPP in election 2020.

"We trust that if you guide us and lead us well and the party goes through a proper process of reorganisation to strengthen its grassroots…we will not be in opposition," he said.

"The party suffered defeat as a government into opposition following the 2016 presidential and parliamentary elections, but that is not the end of it," he said.

Some bigwigs of the NDC continue to trade blame for the the defeat of the party in the December 7 elections.

Supporters have also accused some party officials of amassing wealth and doing very little to help the fortune of the party in the elections.

Haruna Iddrisu speaking to Mr Rawlings noted that members of the party could express themselves "but should not be done in a manner that will jeopardise the chances of the party and its preparedness for the 2020 presidential and parliamentary elections."
