Pulse.com.gh has learnt that President John Mahama has settled on Vice President Paa Kwesi Amissah-Arthur as his choice for running mate going into the 2016 election.

The choice has been confirmed by the president at a meeting with the National Executive committee and the National Council of the party at their Headquarters at Adabraka.

The NDC at a press conference a couple of weeks back sought to put pressure on the President to name a running mate before the end of December 2015.

Prior to the president’s choice many groups within the party lobbied against the choice of Kwasi Amiisah Arthur. They argued that he is not popular among many Ghanaians

Names such as Hannah Serwaa Tettey, Ekow Spio Garbrah and even the Speaker of parliament Edward Doe Adjaho came up.
