Electricity more expensive than rent under NDC- Nana Addo

Speaking at the inauguration ceremony of the South African branch of the NPP in Johannesburg, Nana Akuffo Addo maintained that Ghanaians cannot afford to enjoy electricity in their homes because of the cost of the resource.
 
 

Flagbearer of the New Patriotic Party, Nana Addo Dankwa Akuffo-Addo says the cost of electricity for domestic use in Ghana is currently more expensive than the cost of rent, under the NDC government.

“Can you believe that today in Ghana, for the ordinary Ghanaian, the cost of electricity is more than the cost of their rent? So forget even ‘dumsor’, it is now ‘yɛnsor’, because you can’t afford to pay. That is where we are,” he said

Nana Addo then turned his attention to the country’s economic performance under the NDC, describing the current economic growth rate of 3.9% as appalling and a gross deterioration on the economic achievements of the NPP administration under John Agyekum Kufuor under whom the economy experienced an average annual growth rate of 8.4%.

“These are the stark facts, they are not inventions of Akufo-Addo or NPP. They are the official statistics of our country. If you want any indication of how bad the decline has been, these two statistics will tell you all you need to know,” he said.
