The Functional Executive Committee (FEC) of the National Democratic Congress has indicated that issues relating to the suspension of Sam George and Nii Amasah Namoale are still under review.
The Greater Accra regional executive of the NDC took the decision to suspend the two following allegation of verbal attack on them.
This means that the two constituencies do not have parliamentary candidates for the 2016 elections.
However, a statement by deputy general secretary of the ruling Party Koku Anyidoho said “The Functional Executive Committee (FEC), of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), is by this Release, putting it out that, the issues relating to Nii Amasa Namoale and Sam George, as presented by the Greater Accra Regional Office of the Party, are under review per the rules of practice “.
Prior to the NDC primaries, Sam George alleged that his name and that of other 3,000 delegates of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) have been deleted from the voters’ register.
He claims residents in the area are therefore calling for a suspension of polls as a result of the development.
“The party set up an entry removal mechanism. The entry removal form is not meant to just remove anybody but people who are known not to be members of the party… so on what basis was this entry removal form filled?”
On the part of Nii Amasah Namoale, he also alleged the regional executives have perpetrated fraud against him in the primaries.
A letter confirming their suspension said the two aspiring candidate contravened article 41 (3a) and 40 (8b and c) when they instigated people against the regional executive monitoring team and granted interview to the media accusing the regional executive of perpetrating fraud to the benefit of the other candidates.
They are to appear before a disciplinary committee next week.
