He said the incident happened at the Ntrotroso polling station when he visited the centre to observe the on-going Electoral Commission (EC)’s limited Biometric Voter Registration (BVR) exercise.

Hon. Joseph Benhazin Dahah

Dahah told Joy News: “I was there chatting with my party agents and asking them how the exercise was going when these people [thug] drove in.”

He noted that, when the men got out of their car, Dauda’s brother pointed at him and directed them to beat him up.

“He was the first person to slap me,” he said adding the men beat him till his legs could no longer support his body resulting his fall on the ground.

“One of them pulled out a knife on me,” he said.

Explaining his rescuing moment, Dahah said it was “a certain boy who came around and pushed that guy [holding the gun] before I could stand up and run.”

He said he sustained varying degrees of injury on different parts of his body.

When asked if he had lodged a complaint to the police in Sunyani, Mr. Dahah said: “Yes I reported the matter to the police [and] they gave me a medical form.”

Responding to a question on recent happenings in the region since the start of the limited registration, Mr. Dahah said: “It is true that this kind of barbaric act is going on in the Brong Ahafo region especially in the Ahafo section of the region”.

He said a similar incident took place in the Asunafo South as well as the Asutifi South constituencies of the region.
