NPP members destroy their party cards

Irate young men and women besieged the headquarters of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) in Accra over the suspension of national chairman Paul Afoko.

 

Some registered members of the New Patriotic Party on Thursday, destroyed their NPP Membership card in protest of the illegal suspension of the party's National Chairman, Paul Afoko.

The demonstrators were there to protest against the National Executive Committee and the leadership of the party.

Mr. Kwesi Whyte who was part of the thousands of protesters said he is worried that the party's constitution is being disregarded.

Mr. Whyte destroyed his party card in the full glare of other supporters due to his anger over the suspension of party chairman Paul Afoko.

He said "this is not the NPP I know" while he destroyed his party card.

The Mfantseman West Constituency registered member of the party indicated that Afoko's suspension has caused anger among party faithful.

He believed failure to manage the current wrangling will spell doom for the party in the 2016 elections.
