NDC must work on its 'corrupt' image - Rawlings

He said the the perception that most political parties are 'corrupt' and 'elitist' will not augur well for the country's development.

 

According to him, the perception that most political parties are 'corrupt' and 'elitist' will not augur well for the country's development.

"I wish NDC will do something about this corrupt image of theirs. At the same time, I wish NPP will do something about this perception of being an arrogant elitist party.

"I would help any and every party to get rid of its weaknesses, so that someday when you are in that leadership position, the people can generally feel secure irrespective of which every party is in power. There must be lines you don't cross," he added.

The former president made this known when the family of the late Jake Obetsebi Lamptey visited him at his residence to inform him of the final funeral arrangements.

According to Mr. Rawlings, the late NPP chairman was a smart politician who understood the changing times of Ghanaian politics.

The former chairman of the New Patriotic Party, the late Jake Otanka Obetsebi-Lamptey, will be laid to rest on Friday, April 22, 2016.

The body of the late chairman will be brought to Ghana, from the United Kingdom, on Tuesday, April 12, his family has said.

“The first part of the funeral will be a pre-burial service on April 21, 2016 at the Accra Ridge Church, from 6pm to 10pm. This will be a Celebration of his Life, and in accordance with his wishes, the attire will be ‘Joyful Colours’” Nii Lante Otanka II, Acting Lante Djan We Mantse had said.

“The second part will be a Burial, Funeral and Thanksgiving Service on April 22, 2016, at the forecourt of the State House, and again, in accordance with his wishes, the attire will be white,” the family had added.

Jake Obetsebi Lamptey passed away on Sunday, March 20, in London.
