Akufo-Addo commends Mahama over bungalow row

President Nana Akufo Addo has commended the conduct of former president John Mahama over the controversy that surrounded a state bungalow he requested to keep as part of his ex-gratia but has since vacated the facility.

He hailed the former president for supervising a smooth transition of power in the footsteps of former president John Kufuor and Jerry John Rawlings to his administration.

"Our thanks on this occasion also must go to my predecessor, president John Mahama who followed in the footstep of his illustrious predecessors Jerry John Rawlings and John Agyekum Kufuor and supervise a peaceful transition of power," he said.

"In spite of all the controversy surrounding all his settlement, his conduct has been a credit to our nation and we must all give thanks to the lord almighty," he said.

Ex-president Mahama vacated the bungalow on Saturday to his private residence located at Airport, Accra.

There was widespread anger when he requested to keep bungalow which has served as the official residence of vice presidents in Ghana.
