Criticisms over new EC logo 'nonsense' – David Percy

“Giving the far weightier issues that we seem to be embroiled in, this was a distraction,” he added.

He said the noise which was made by some opposition political parties and sections of the general public was a distraction aimed at swaying the public from talking about weightier issues of national concern.

Speaking on Radio Gold, Dr. Percy said: “Frankly, I was surprised when the matter of this logo came up in the light of all the various distractions that will allow this nonsense about the new electoral register to be.”

A few days ago, the EC unveiled a new logo but the unveiling generated discussions relating to its necessity.

In his view however, Dr. Percy suggested that if the “EC was minded to do something like that, I thought they would have put out an invitation to the good citizens of this country, launch some competition and receive suggestions along the line they were thinking.”

In a related development, Minister of Communication, Dr. Edward Omane Boamah said the NPP’s intention to use the EC’s new logo as a launching pad to make other arguments against the commission has failed.

“They think that by chasing the logo and continuing with their harassing attack on one person will guarantee them electoral success. The ball is in their court but for the NDC, we will continue to remain focused,” he remarked.

He charged the NPP to “sit up” and “weed out corruption in their party, let them restore sanity and unity in their party and above all, let them put credible alternatives forward for consideration.”
