NPP paraphernalia set Makola Market ablaze

Many traders have abandoned the sale of their original wares to sell NPP paraphernalia

Makola market is one of the places to be if you want to witness the height of the celebrations since the EC declared Nana Akufo-Addo as President-elect.

People dancing to political campaign songs  booming from speakers at every corner is a common scene at Makola. Six out of 10 people you meet are adorned in NPP party colours.

Rawlings Park is where all the action is if you are looking for NPP paraphernalia to buy. Women and men from all walks of life are gathered and trading hats, caps, trays, watches, scarfs whistles, vuvuzelas almost every item you can think of have been branded with NPP colours and are being sold.

Emelia Boafo joined the "NPP market" on Saturday. She used to sell  fruits, but she realised how lucrative sale of the branded NPP item are she quit her fruit business temporarily to make some money.

"I have so far made more money than i invested." Emelia said "Now we all have something doing by the time this is over i would have made a lot of money"

"As for fish business it is what we do. But currently this is what is moving fast. i started selling today and people are really buying. The prices have really gone up  but people are still buying so it is not that bad." Another seller Matilda told Pulse.com.gh.

A small flag which used to sell for was 2 cedis has been increased to 5 cedis after the results decalration. A cap which sold at 5 cedis is now selling at 10 cedis, the scarf which was selling for 10 cedis is now going for 20 cedis.

The most popular guy at Rawlings park is Nana Owusu. He is responsible for importing the goods from China.

"This is Nana centre" Owusu said "there  are about four trucks here to supply the items. Some of the items are in short supply but we are bringing in more.

"Some of the items are stock from last four years. We brought in 22 containers and they have all sold out.

The traders here are hoping to continue to cash in until the seventh of January 2017 when the President elect Nana Akufo-Addo will be sworn in.
