Appoint Zanetor Rawlings as running mate - NDC urged

Ahead of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) primary to elect a flagbearer, a former Member of the Council of State in the erstwhile administration of former President John Mahama, Nana Adjei Ampofo, has urged the party to appoint Member of Parliament (MP) for Klottey-Korle, Dr Zanetor Rawlings, as the running mate to the partys presidential candidate.

He said Zanetor Rawlings would be the best choice to partner the next presidential candidate of the NDC to win the 2020 elections.

Nana Ampofo, who is  also a former Omanhene of the Goaso Traditional Area in the Brong Ahafo region said, she [Zanetor]  would represent the 'Rawlings factor' in the NDC.

"The Rawlings issue will be solved once Dr Rawlings becomes the running mate," he said.

According to reports by the Daily Graphic, the complexities of the political environment, going into the next election, left him [Nana Ampofo] in no doubt that Zanetor is the best to partner the presidential candidate.

He said "So whoever leads the party into 2020, whether former President Mahama or whoever - the choice of running mate should be Dr Zanetor Rawlings."

Meanwhile, posters of former President President Jerry John Rawlings have emerged, sparking brouhaha in a section of the party.

It is however, not clear who are behind the nicely-printed posters, which come with a picture of Mr Rawlings.

The sudden emergence of the posters is reported to have sparked instant confusion and uneasiness among some leading members of the largest opposition political party in the country.
