He said: “On my own behalf and that of the police administration, we are here this afternoon to congratulate you on your victory won on 7 December, 2016 and also to assure you that as a police institution, we are not going to fail in our responsibility to the government of the day come 7 January and also the good people of this country. We shall continue to be professional, very transparent, very patriotic, and loyal to the state and for that matter the government of the day.”
“Again, I wanted to see the security arrangements as I have directed since the day you were declared winner, whether it comes to what your security details want and also whether you are comfortable with it. Once again, congratulations on the victory you won and be rest assured that we will ensure the security of this state. We will support you throughout the inauguration and from there be at your service particularly and to the service of the people of this country,” he added.

On his part, Nana Akufo-Addo promised to work together with the Police Service when he is finally sworn into office on January 7, 2017.
"I am confident what I know about the Ghana Police Service we are going to have very good relationship."
"In opposition, there are many things you say about the way the state is being run. I have made some comments some of you may have found it difficult to stomach. It was not done out of malice. It was done out of my understanding of what the national interest required. The important thing is to put everything in perspective and work together," he stated.
He further assured the IGP that he had no agenda to witch-hunt any officer, adding that "I bear no grudge against anybody."
