We will resist IGP's social media ban David Asante

The IGP has recently reiterated he still stands by his earlier intentions to ban social media during the November election if need be.

“Social media is used to churn out untruths and half-baked truths and finally lies...we as the Police will not sit down for this to happen, we shall recommend that the Social Media is banned for the seven or eight hours that the election will take place after all it is nothing but Ghana first and I still stand by that,” the IGP said.

John Kudalor maintained, this when done will help maintain the security of the nation.

Meanwhile the IGP’s decision has been greeted with many backlashes from a section of the public with the latest being David Asante who took to his Facebook page Wednesday July 20, 2016 to condemn the IGP’s plan.

He stated, the decision will be resisted because “it will not help the nation”.

"The IGP of Ghana insists he would block social media on elections day, really? This is backward, lazy thinking and dictatorial tendencies of a crumbling regime, IGP you will not succeed, we will resist it, it will not help the nation!!!"
