Thank you for 'being understanding' - PPP to EC

Dr Papa Kwesi Nduom was one of the presidential aspirants disqualified on Monday, October 10 after the Commission detected errors with his nomination forms.

The Progressive People’s Party (PPP) has said it is grateful to the Electoral Commission for allowing its flagbearer to be part of the December 7 presidential elections.

The situation resulted in a legal tussle between the PPP and the EC, with the Supreme Court eventually ruling that the EC should allow all disqualified political parties to correct their anomalies.

The PPP in a ballot held on the same day picked the fourth position.

Speaking after the exercise, Chairman of the PPP Nii Allotey Brew Hammond said: “We are very happy to be on the ballot...“We thank the EC for being understanding enough to get us amend and alter our nomination forms as per CI 94.”

He believed his party’s position on the presidential ballot is a good omen.

“We are in between NPP and NDC and we hope that the average voter will recognize the sun and vote for the sun and vote for Papa Kwesi Nduom,” he said.
