President Mahama denounces independent candidates

President John Mahama, not enthused by the development, said the party will not entertain such members. He also appealed to them to rescind their decision since their action could affect the party's vote at the polls.

President John Mahama has blasted defeated National Democratic Congress members who failed to become the partys parliamentary candidate and are running as independent candidates.

"The NDC will not entertain NDC members who contest as independent candidates but it will rather appeal to you to rally behind the NDC candidates to win in their constituencies,” he said.

Addressing NDC supporters as part of his four-day campaign tour of the Volta Region, the NDC flagbearer, said the development also affect the party's agenda of sweeping more seats in the December vote.

The president also touted the NDC's achievement as unprecedented in the annals of country's history.
