Speaking on Accra-based Class FM, Superintendent Arthur said: “We have commenced the process of withdrawing the security personnel assigned to the presidential aspirants. …We are going to withdraw them as soon as possible.”
The Electoral Commission of Ghana disqualified 12 presidential nominees from the December polls and put one on hold, pending the determination of a court challenge.
Those disqualified are Hassan Ayariga of the All People’s Congress (APC), Dr Edward Mahama of the People’s National Convention (PNC) Dr Papa Kwesi Nduom of the Progressive People’s Party (PPP) including ,nine others.
Mr Akwasi Addae Odike of the United Progressive Party’s nomination has been put on hold pending a court case.
The EC Chair Mrs Charlotte Osei cited fraudulent signatures, the absence of a required number of signatures, improper filing of nomination forms, among others, as the reasons for their disqualification.
