NDP joins the ranks of political parties who have chosen their running mates from the Volta Region. The Progressive People’s Party (PPP) selected a former beauty queen and gender advocate Bridget Dzogbenuku, while the People's National Convention (PNC) chose Emmanuel Anyidoho who is an economist.

Mrs Rawlings told Accra-based Joy FM that the party settled on Mr Soso because they [NDP] want to win the votes of more youth which she believes would enable the party to win the 2016 polls.

“Whether we like it or not Ghana has more youth population and we need somebody who is youthful and relate to the young people,” she said.

Nana Konadu Agyemang Rawlings was denied the opportunity to contest the 2012 elections because the EC at the time said there were some blank spaces in her form which needed to be sorted before it could be accepted.

“We have done what the EC has requested us to do because I don’t want to leave any shred of doubt of what is going to be done,” she added.

The party, however, disclosed that Michael Sosu would be outdoored  in the Volta Region over the weekend.
