Military will crash lawbreakers - CDS

In recent times the security has been chastised especially by the media for its reaction to violent political clashes that have ensued in the country.

The Chief of Defence Staff Air Marshal Michael Samson-Oje has cautioned Ghanaians to avoid causing trouble during the elections since such people will be dealt with ruthlessly.

He was speaking at a media interaction in Accra on Friday. He mentioned that the country's security will deal with anybody who flouts the laws during the elctions.

“I’ll like to sound a note of caution to any person or group of persons who intend to cause any kind of trouble during the election period. We in the military are ready and prepared together with the civil police and our other sister security services to deal ruthlessly with any such group of persons or person.”

Most people have described this trend as worrying as it is barely two weeks to the general elections.

But Air Marshall Oje said the military together with other security personnel will ensure a violent-free election on December 7.

“Any unlawful act would be met with the force it deserves and the laws of the land would be applied appropriately to deal with any individual or group.”

He called on the media to report with caution since they are an influential force in the country.
