Let's engage politics in a sober manner - Rawlings

Ghana’s former President, Flt. Lt. Jerry John Rawlings, has entreated Ghanaians to engage in politics in a very sober manner ahead of the December polls.

According to him, as matters heat up ahead of the elections, traditional rulers must endeavour to guide the electorates for to ensure a peaceful atmosphere.

“Things will heat up very soon, but no matter how far it takes, let’s not take it to the edge. Let’s engage the politics in a very sober manner. Let us not cause undue friction to destabilise the atmosphere. Whatever it is, let’s do it in a peaceful climate,” Mr. Rawlings implored.

The former president was accompanied by his daughter, Dr. Zanetor Agyeman-Rawlings; Dr. Kofi Djokoto, NDC Constituency Chairman for Keta and several others to the funeral ceremony.

The former president also expressed his appreciation to the late chief, Nana Otutu Kono, for the advice he offered him during his tenure in office.

He said it was the hope of the late chief that Ghana remained united and peaceful.
