Former President John Agyekum Kufour has taken a swipe on governments who undertake economic activities for profit.
He believes governments all over the world are âexpected to govern and not do businessâ, saying their job is to âset the framework to ensure that the private sector engages in business and does it appropriatelyâ.

The former president made these comments on Thursday, September 1, during the âDreamOval Thoughts Transfer Series,â where he interacted with some Ghanaian youth at his residence in Accra over several issues confronting the nation.
He believed Ghana can do more to improve the current state of its economy through good governance and leadership.
He further admonished office holders to be careful and avoid the temptation of been corrupt.
âOnce you get into office, thatâs the nature of power. Power attracts, and it attracts in ways that if the holder is not careful, he will end up in disgrace. So yes; I was there alright, but I kept reminding myself; I didnât pretend that I could easily overcome the weaknesses, but I kept reminding myself of how others fell so as to keep myself in check from pursuing my natural inclinations many times so that was what saved meâ.
