Scores of head Porters in the Kejetia market of the Ashanti Regional Capital have vowed not to vote for the flagbearer of the New Patriotic Party.

According to the porters, President John Mahama is their best choice as he is their kinsman.

‘We will vote for John Mahama, because we like him,’ porters from Savelugu told Kumasi-based Abusua FM.

Their latest stance seems to be in contrary to statements by the National president of the Head Porters’ Association, Hajia Adiza Zongo that her members across the country would vote massively for the NPP in the presidential and the parliamentary polls.

She told a huge crowd at the Abbey's Park in the Manhyia South Constituency, during the 'Baamu Yadda' demonstration that Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo is the only hope for the country in the November elections.

Adiza assured that she and her group would campaign in their own way to help the party to oust the non-performing National Democratic Congress (NDC) government this year.

The Association of Head Porters in the Ashanti region, in January this year, donated GHC5,000 to the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP) at a fundraiser in the Region.

The leader of the head porters, Hajia Adiza Zongo, in presenting the cash to the party at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium said “We don’t want Nana Addo to go for any money to end up [like] the Woyome Saga.”
