IEA debate may have no impact on election results

The governing NDC has boycotted the debates over some misgivings they believe have not been addressed by the Institute.

IEA Presidential Debate

The Evening Encounter Series which is being organised by the IEA gives the opportunity to political parties with representation in parliament to share their vision and plans with a cross section of civil society.

These encounters are prior to the Presidential and Vice Presidential Debates to be held in August. The People’s National Congress’ presidential nominee Dr. Edward Mahama was the first to take his turn. He would be followed by Mr. Ivor Kobina Greenstreet, flagbearer of the CPP and Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, flagbearer of the NPP.

Even though the NPP’s presidential nominee will appear at the series Mr. Blay said “This can’t be a real thing, a 30 minute speech that you deliver, and if you are not careful it will be pledges…definitely we wouldn’t say that within this 30-minute you want to sit here or stand on the platform and tell Ghanaians that you have the magic wand to solve the problems of this country”
