President Mahama obtained 50.63% of the votes whilst Nana Akufo-Addo of the NPP, polled 47.81% of total votes cast.

According to the opinion survey conducted on November 16, 2016 , three-time presidential candidate of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Nana Akufo-Addo, is likely to garner 45.9 percent of votes with the rest of the presidential candidates having a sum of 1.7 percent of the total votes cast.
