Ghana's youth have lost hope in politicians - Peace Council

“I have come into contact with some young people who said they will not even vote for the simple reason that all of them [politicians] are the same," Chairman of the National Peace Council, Rev. Professor Emmanuel Asante, has said.

Chairman of the National Peace Council, Rev. Professor Emmanuel Asante, has said Ghana’s youth are losing confidence in politicians across the country.

“To be honest with you when you talk to a lot of the young people, they are disappointed because we are talking too much when they have no jobs,” he said.

Rev. Professor Emmanuel Asante was speaking at a Peace Summit organised by the Rotary Club in Accra.

According to him, politicians should do something to salvage that image, adding that “You need to explain things clearly to the people and the challenges and what efforts are being made to address the challenges.”

“We are creating tension and fear which shouldn’t be the case,” the Head of Ghana’s Peace Council added.

On his part, the Presidential Candidate of People’s National Convention (PNC), Dr Edward Mahama advised the youth to stay away from acts that could cause mayhem ahead of the general elections.
