The Chief of Staff Mr. Julius Debrah has cautioned the youth to desist from acts that could plunge Ghana into chaos before, during and after the elections.

The Chief of Staff gave the advise at a "Peace Walk" organised by NASSOBA, with support from the National Road Commission and the National Youth Authority aimed at educating the youth to stay out of political squabbles ahead of the next elections.

"President John Dramani Mahama has stated on countless occasions his commitment towards protecting the peace and unity of Ghana intact, I am here to also amplify that government is desirous of safeguarding the country's peace intact beyond the 2016 elections," Mr Debrah said in the Upper West region.

He urged the youth to be vigilant and to engage in acts that would enhance and promote productivity in their various communities.

Addressing the enthusiastic crowd in a peace walk which was participated by some political parties including the New Patriotic Party (NPP), the People's National Convention (PNC) amongst others, the Chief of Staff said Ghana needs peace to accelerate her development.

He stressed that Ghana would not burn under Mahama because he is committed towards seeing the masses go about their normal duties without fear or favor even before and after the elections.

All representatives of the political parties, RSC, NASSOBA and the National Youth Authority urged the people to allow what “unites us as a people be more than those they seek to divide us as a people”.

The regional minister Aminu Sullemana who was part of the walk also urged the youth to shun from being agents of violence in the December elections.
