EOCO's attempt to 'crucify' Nduom shocking - PPP

Addressing the media on the matter on Monday, 24 October, Ms Dzogbenuku said: “We are convinced at this point that these despicable maneuverings are orchestrated by our opponents who are uncomfortable with the growth of the party.”

EOCO last Friday invited the presidential aspirants of the All People’s Congress (APC) and the PPP to confirm, in writing, the sources of their incomes. Dr Nduom is being asked to explain the source of GH¢750,000 that he paid for himself and the party's parliamentary candidates.

“As a party, we believe in building stronger state institutions. On Friday 21st October 2016, an Accra Radio station reported on their website that the Criminal Investigations Department (CID) boss had issued an arrest warrant for Dr Papa Kwesi Nduom to appear before the CID. We are extremely disappointed that the CID boss would use the media as the channel to invite him instead of the appropriate administrative procedure.

“We woke up today to be greeted with the ridiculous front page publication on the Daily Graphic that ECOO has given our flag bearer Dr Papa Kwesi Nduom up to Wednesday October 26, to explain the source of the GHS1.7m that was paid as filing fees to the EC on behalf of the party’s parliamentary candidates.

“We are extremely disappointed with this kind of Machiavellian tactics of a state-sponsored institution to attempt to disgrace Dr Nduom in such an unfortunate manner. We are surprised at the behaviour of EOCO that this institution is being used for intimidating political opponents.

“Where is the fairness in this act by EOCO? What crime has Dr Papa Kwesi Nduom committed for him to be crucified in such a manner? If EOCO wants Ghanaians to take them seriously, why are they not investigating all the other presidential candidates who have paid their filing fees well in excess of what the PPP has paid? This is deliberate application of selective injustice," she said.
