EC threatened with another suit to enforce SC ruling on voters' register
The Supreme Court yesterday ordered the Electoral Commission (EC) to clean the voters' register by deleting the names of minors, dead people and those who registered with National Health Insurance cards.

But lawyer for the plaintiffs in the case, Nana Asante Badiatuo, says the landmark ruling yesterday should not be difficult to implement, considering the fact the EC admitted in court that they have the names of all those who registered with NHIS cards.
“It shouldn’t be difficult for them [Electoral Commission] to identify those persons who used the NHIS cards to register and delete their names and give those who are genuinely Ghanaians the opportunity to register again, he told Accra based Citi FM.
He continued: “So that is what we will be seeking to enforce. They [Electoral Commission] may write back to us and say look this is what we are doing. And if my clients are satisfied that the steps they are taking will achieve the desired ends, we don’t have a problem otherwise we will enforce the court orders.

He emphasized that “it shouldn't be difficult for the EC to delete the names of those who registered with NHIS cards.
He added that whatever steps the EC take in cleaning the register, his clients would want to know to ensure that the measures are in line with the court’s orders.
