The NDC Parliamentary candidate for the Weija-Gbawe Constituency, Obuobia Darko-Opoku, has advised women who aspire to go into politics not to be discouraged by sexist comments against them.
âYou donât have to look at the difficulties [in politics] because the difficulties are there, some you deal with it.
âYou get into a certain situation that everybody thinks that once a woman decides to get into politics that means she is sleeping with a lot of men around town or she is ready to hit one big target that will push her to the top but it shouldnât tickle you at all,â Obuobia said in an interview with Berla Mundi on #RythmzLive One-on-One Wednesday.

She argued that women have been able to achieve success in their respective fields due to hard work.
âA lot of hard work that is exactly what has pushed some of us up there and not because we jumped from one man to the other. It doesnât get to me at all, it urges me on.
âI think it is a wrong perception that people have about women in politics and Iâm praying that we will get into a certain time in this country where people can simply clear their minds of that and understand that people have really worked hard to get where they are,â Obuobia Darko-Opoku added.
