Charlotte Osei tells Ghana how she can rig the elections

The chairperson of the Electoral Commission Charlotte Osei has indicated that she will need the powers of Superman to be able to rig the 2016 general elections.

She said that the current electoral process will make it too difficult for anyone to rig the polls.

"I will need Superman’s powers to be able to do that. There is no way that all of us at the Electoral Commission can change the results. It is really impossible. For you to change the results of the election, you have to be at 29,000 polling stations, change the results on the sheets of all the party agents who are there."

she added.

Mrs Osei said this when she met members of the Ashanti Regional House of Chiefs in the Ashanti Region on Wednesday.

She also mentioned that the Electoral Commission has put in place enough measures to ensure there is a free and fair general election in December.

On the challenges that may arise with the use of the biometric verification machine, she assured that there will be adequate devices to use as an alternative.

“If one (biometric verification devices) has a problem or breaks down, we will switch to the second one. There is a backup we will bring from the constituency level to support that polling station”.
