According to the law professor, he has lost confidence in the Electoral Commission following some of the decisions it has taken, specifically, with the disqualification of the13 presidential nominees.

Prof. Kwaku Asare therefore wants the seven member Commission dissolved immediately after the December 7 general elections.
“I am sorry to say this but I have no confidence in the Electoral Commission. The first step is for all stakeholders to be vigilant and work tirelessly for a credible election in December. The second step is to fire the EC’s lawyers.

“The third step, after the general elections, is to dissolve the Commission,” Prof. Kwaku Asare said, added and called for an amendment of the constitution “to require a super majority parliamentary vote before being put on the Commission”, he said in a Facebook post Monday.
His comments come on the back of a Supreme Court ruling that ordered the EC to give the disqualified presidential nominees the opportunity to rectify anomalies on their nomination forms.
The Supreme Court on Monday asked the election management body to extend the nomination period to November 8, and allow the candidates to correct their mistakes in order to contest the polls.
The court also ordered the discontinuation of the various court cases regarding the disqualification of other presidential aspirants.

Meanwhile, the Commission has already written to all the affected presidential hopefuls, alerting them of their errors, and reminding them to as a matter of urgency correct same in view of the court ruling.
Some parties already feel that the extension period is too short and therefore feel they might not be able to make it.
