President John Mahama has called on Ghanaians to wait for the Electoral Commission (EC) to declare the final results of the presidential election and the EC must be allowed to carry out its constitutional mandate.
President Mahama tweeted stating that "We'll make Ghana proud no matter the outcome" of the elections. "Let's allow EC to carry out its constitutional mandate"
However, the Chairperson of the EC, Mrs Charlotte Osei said the electoral body cannot manipulate or change the results of the presidential and parliamentary polls.
Her comment comes at the back of allegations by the New Patriotic Party (NPP) that the EC will rig the elections for the National Democratic Congress (NDC).

Addressing the press on Thursday, December 8, 2016, she said, "the history of our presidential elections in the fourth republic in Ghana have been very close and because of that closeness, we have a duty to ensure that we take our time to collate the results properly, we ensure the process of collation remains as inclusive and as transparent as the process of the elections."
