Election 2016 Afari Gyan more trustworthy than Charlotte Osei - Ayariga

Ayariga went on to rubbish claims that his controversial and often humorous comments have resulted in voter's not taking him serious as a possible President of Ghana.

Presidential candidate of the All People's Congress (APC) has taken a fresh swipe at Electoral Commission (EC) boss Charlotte Osei, claiming that her tenure so far as chairperson has lacked the credibility that characterized her predecessor, Dr Kwadwo Afari Gyan.

The outspoken businessman, whose party was one of 12 parties disqualified from contesting the 2016 General Elections by the EC last week, was speaking on JOY FM's Super morning show.

"If I have to tell you the truth, I don't trust the EC chair. She is not straight in doing their things," the 45-year old businessman said. "She thinks she is hard but she is setting a bad precedent."

The EC last week said that the APC failed to get the required 432 registered voters to endorse the candidature of the 45-year-old, resulting in his disqualification, a claim he bitterly describes as a "big lie".

Last week, fresh in the wake of the EC's announcement of qualified and disqualified candidates, Ayariga launched a scathing verbal attack on Charlotte Osei, something he later apologized for. He is however adamant that his frustration was justified. "She attacked my identity so I also attacked her integrity," he explained.

Ayariga went on to rubbish claims that his controversial and often humorous comments have resulted in voter's not taking him serious as a possible President of Ghana. He was bullish about his competence and seriousness, saying he has made many strides to prove so: the opening 10 regional offices and 143 constituency offices, the procurement of 30 APC-branded pick-ups among other moves, all in one year.

"At 20, I made my first million; at 22, I built my first house; at 44, I formed my own political party. If Ghanaians think I'm not serious with all these, then by the time I get serious, I will buy the whole world," he added.
