Kweku Baako backs Kan Dapaah, urges president not to fire him

Mr Kan Dapaah has come under fire from both side of the political divide. While the National Democratic Congress (NDC) is calling for his head for failing to maintain peace and order, some New Patriotic Party (NPP) members want him dismissed for arresting some members of the Delta Force.

Veteran Journalist Kweku Baako has urged President Nana Akufo-Addo not to fire Albert Kan Dapaah, the National Security Minister, after calls from the NDC, and some NPP members for him to be dismissed.

In addition, he is being accused by  Kennedy Agyapong, MP for Assin Central, and NPP Ashanti Regional Chairman, Mr. Bernard Antwi Boasiako, aka Chairman Wontumi, of undermining the party.

The two have threatened to lead efforts to get him fired because he did not contribute to the party’s victory.

But speaking on Newsfile Saturday, Kweko Baako said Kan Dapaah is doing a lot of good to NPP's image and the government's image, adding that those attacking him are rather undermining the party.

“The Ashanti regional chairman also should be careful. If I were him I would stop talking. If I were the President, I would keep Kan Dapaah at the place. He is doing a lot of good to the party’s image and the government’s image. Those attacking him; the things they are saying are rather undermining the integrity of this government and especially the President…” he said.
