Prof. Attahiru Jega visits Nana Akufo-Addo

The immediate past Chairman of Nigeria’s Independent Electoral Commission of Nigeria, Prof. Attahiru Jega, has paid a courtesy call on the flagbearer of the New Patriotic Party (NPP).

Prof. Jega was accompanied by Mrs. Jean Mensa, the Executive Director of the Institute of Economic Affairs (IEA).

The former INEC boss who delivered a lecture in Accra on Monday, December 14, 2015 on Ghana's electoral reforms visited Nana Akufo-Addo at his Nima residence.

Under the auspices of the IEA, Prof Attahiru Jega shed light on the recent general election in Nigeria and factors that ensured the credibility of the electoral process.

He advised the Electoral Commission of Ghana and political parties to ensure stability in Ghana's electoral system.

The rationale for Prof. Jega’s visit is for Ghana and other African countries to draw valuable lessons from his experience and insights.

Nigeria's elections have been touted as one of the best democratic elections in Africa and the world at large.

The March 2015 Nigerian elections saw Vice Chancellors and Professors volunteering to ensure free and fair elections as Prof. Attahiru Jega rolled out a number of initiatives that rid the electoral system of violence and political interferences.
