A statement signed by Erick Kofi Dzakpasu, Head of Communications at the EC said the exercise has been extended due to some challenges including a âhigher than anticipated turnout of registrants at some centres, Network challenges, and power outages at some registration centres.â
âWe wish to thank the public for their understanding and also commend the political parties for their continued support and cooperation.
All feedback, concerns and challenges regarding the exercise should be brought to the attention of the Commission either through the Communication Secretariat, Regional Directors or District Electoral Officers of the Commission,â the statement added.
The EC in May registered 90 percent of 1.2 million voters it was targeting to capture onto the electoral register. With the continuous registration exercise, the EC is hoping to meet its desired target.
